Employee Volunteer Grants

You can increase the impact of your gift or to CAP through an employer matching gift program. Many employers will match charitable contributions made by their employees or employees’ spouses to encourage philanthropic giving! The matching gift program is great for maximizing your dollar, as many employers will match your gift dollar for dollar or even triple your gift!

Some companies also match employee volunteer time to nonprofit organizations with cash donations of a certain dollar amount per volunteer hour contributed.

Matching gifts will be allocated to the donor's designation (if requested) unless company policy requires distribution to a general fund.

Bank of America employees and retirees volunteer thousands of hours globally in our neighborhoods each year. In fact, more than 3,000 charitable organizations benefit from our employees and retirees’ dedication each year. To honor those who give their time and service to causes important to them, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation awards volunteer grants, which are up to $500 per employee or retiree for each calendar year and are made in the name of the employee or retiree, to eligible charitable organizations.

An unrestricted grant for volunteer work is made to any eligible nonprofit organization for which an employee or retiree has committed substantial volunteer hours within a calendar year.

• • For 50 hours of volunteer time within a calendar year, Bank of America Charitable Foundation will give a $250 grant.

  • For 100 hours of volunteer time within a calendar year, the grant is $500.

Boeing matches employee and retiree donations to most nonprofits. The company provides a dollar for dollar match on the first $6,000 donated per employee and a 50% match on donations from retirees. 

Boeing offers two types of volunteer grants for employees:

1. Individual Volunteer Grants

   1. Boeing offers volunteer grants to recognize employees who volunteer with nonprofit organizations. The company provides a $250 grant for every 25 hours of volunteering (max $6,000)

2. Cause Related Walk Grants

• 1. Boeing provides a $100 grant for every fundraising walk, run, bike, bowl-a-thon, etc. that an employee participates in.

Volunteers request their volunteer grants and fundraising walk grants through the company's corporate giving site​.

Employees have until January 31st of the following year to submit volunteer grant requests.

Microsoft is widely known to have one of the leading employee giving programs. In past years the company has matched more than $47 million in employee donations to a wide variety of charities. 

Microsoft provides grants to nonprofits where its employees volunteer on a regular basis.

Microsoft employees who volunteer can request a grant of $17 per every hour volunteered (minimum of 4 hours per calendar year.)
