Wing Cadet Staff Program

Overview:

The Washington Wing Cadet Staff (WCS) program gives experienced cadets an opportunity to lead and contribute above the unit level. Through an application process, cadets are matched with a wing staff office that best fits their skill set. This program, overseen by the WCS Senior Advisors and Cadet Chief of Staff, allows cadets to participate in various staff work for their office.

Cadet Requirements:

1. Amelia Earhart Award - cadets with the Billy Mitchell award may be admitted on a case-by-case basis, especially when they have technical expertise in a given field

2. Broad experience at the unit level 

3. Approval from the Unit Commander 

Hands-on expertise in a given area, especially at the unit level, is recommended before applying.

  • Shares news regarding activities to the wing, ensuring awareness to all cadets

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior activity cadet command experience

• Cadet Programs - Leadership

  • Mentors unit C/CCs

  • Host/Manage Cadet Officer’s Town Hall

  • May be asked to assist in leadership curriculum development

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior Cadet Commander experience at the unit

• Public Affairs

  • Content creation

  • Cadet newsletter

  • Publicizes and markets the wing

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior PAO experience

• Safety (FILLED)

• Historian

  • Help with annual history

  • Maintain historical repository

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior Cadet Historian experience

• Aerospace Education

  • Help to draft the quarterly Wing AE newsletter 

  • Contact / Connect with Squadron-level AE cadets 

  • Coursework 

  • Assisting Wing Internal and Wing External AEO's

  • Tracking/Reporting of progress

  •  Continuity Documentation 

• Cadet Student Pilot Advisor 

  • Helps cadets in the wing with applications for WINGS

  • Advises student pilots

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Current Student Pilot or;

    • Active Pilot
