Colonel David E. Maxwell
Advisor to the Wing Commander
Colonel David Maxwell is currently an advisor to the Washington Wing Commander. He was appointed to this position in 2010. Prior to being appointed to his current position, he served as Washington Wing Commander from 2006-2010.
Colonel Maxwell has been a member of the Civil Air Patrol for over 45 years. He has served in numerous positions throughout his CAP career in the Washington, Arkansas, and Illinois wings.
He has also served on staff for the WA Wing Flight Academy, PCR Leadership School, and National Cadet Officers School. He has attended numerous Region and National Conferences.
After his term as wing commander, he served as encampment commander of Cascade Falcon for five years. He currently works with the encampment staff as advisor and Finance Officer.
He retired from the Air Force in 1995 after 22 years of service. After retirement, he returned to Washington Wing and served as the Wing Liaison NCO and then the Deputy State Director until the position was abolished in 2003. He served the wing as Logistics Officer and then Deputy Wing Commander until his appointment as Wing Commander in 2006.
